Bobby Beard

Where to begin about a man who has taken  the vast majority of his life in playing saxophone.  Bobby Beard takes any song and makes it his own!  Music has been a part of his life since he was 15.

As a part of Breadwine & Blues, he transforms his sound into works of art others only dare to dream of!  Bobby does it consistently each and every show with class!

Bobby played with WDJ and The Heatwave in 1968 … this was a 9pc soul band with a fantastic singer, William D. Jordan (WDJ).

He played along the Virginia Beach Coast in such clubs as “The Peppermint Beach Club", “The Golden Garter” and private gigs booked through Wilson Harrell Booking Agency in Virginia Beach.  Keep in mind this started before he was old enough to drive.

In 1996 he started “The Steppin’ Out Band”, playing country clubs in Virginia and Eastern North Carolina as well as Bill Deal’s Home base, “The Steppin Out Club”, North Hill Top Shopping Center.  The highlight of his career was in taking “The Steppin’ Out Band to Lake Gaston to play for the icon himself, Percy Sledge.

In 2012 he formed the group known as KB and The Shifters, playing in NC, VA, and SC in well-known clubs such as “Ducks” and “The OD Club” North Myrtle Beach. They recorded “Call Me” on “Shag IV” CD which went to number 1 on 97.9 The Surf in
N. Myrtle Beach and was played, and is still played, on stations across NC and SC.

In 2017 he started “Breadwine & Blooze Band”, and is currently playing tenor/alto sax, harmonica, guitar and melodica.
